A 3D Workshop on Adobe Illustrator

Create two Circles and group them by pressing Control+G. Take off the stroke and change the colour.

Choose Effect > 3D> Extrude & Bevel.

The 3D dialog box appears. Check the Preview.

Now we can see live what we are doing.

Drag inside the box area and notice how it moves and updates the object live.

To understand the procedure better, hovering over an edge and notice how it turns red. This indicates the X axis. If you look to the side you'll notice an icon in red which represents the axis and shows you how it turns.

Here is the Y axis in green.

The Z axis is in blue. If you change the numbers in any one of these box to the right, you'll change the axis of the box.

Change the perspective of the item by typing values in the Perspective box.

Change the Extrude Depth in the Extrude & Bevel box.

Another option provided is the option to cap or not to cap the artwork. So far we have the cap. Turn off the cap make the stroke of the item shows through with no fill.
